Of all of the different types of bug detectors available, and for the many different types of bugs that you may need to detect, there are bug detectors for your telephones that can do more than just tell you whether or not someone is listening into your conversations. You may also need to have bug detectors that can tell you just what your telephone is being used for and who is being called. This is great for small businesses operating on a budget, as well as for use in a private home. By using one of these tone decoder bug detectors, you can tell immediately when someone is calling long distance and put a stop to the call before the phone bill gets run up. The great part is that these tone decoders don’t even have to plug directly into the device that’s being used. When you play the pre-recorded tape recording or whatever audio source you’re using, the dialed phone numbers appear instantaneously on your sixteen-digit LCD display. Of course, if you prefer to connect your bug detector directly into the source, a direct telephone line connector cable is also supplied.

And did you know that your telephone can be tapped not only for the purpose of listening in on your private conversations, but that it can also be converted into one of the most efficient room monitors available? And the telephone doesn’t have to be off the hook for this to work. By installing a hook switch bypass into the telephone, the transmitter or even the earpiece or receiver becomes a microphone so that anyone manning a listening station, can hear not only everything that is said, but everything that is going on in the room as well. Fortunately, there are bug detectors that can stop that from happening.

It’s an interesting fact that more than 50 million people are able to access the Internet today, while the technology itself is still very young. Of these 50 million people, it is estimated that over half have set up home based online businesses with their computers. Now, think of what this means. It’s a massive (and expanding) audience, coupled with the savings on overhead costs from using your online business for advertising and marketing. You can see how there is a lot of potential to succeed.

Below are a few guidelines to help you to cash in on the online home business boom that is becoming more and more popular.

Make a decision on what you will be selling.

Starting a home business, even one that only involves one computer connected to the Internet, is always an ongoing process of making new decisions. In most online home businesses, you’re likely to settle on one of two areas: products or services.

If you’re interested in products, you can either handle the whole operation yourself, including the handling and processing of orders and payments, as well as shipping and stocking goods, or you can just do the marketing for a company that does the administration for you. Your online home business in this case will be concerned with getting this company orders, and receiving your own commission for this.

You can also decide to provide services rather than products in your home-based business. There are advantages to doing so. If you provide services, you can get what’s called a `residual’ commission-an income that you get month-by-month as long as your customers make use of your services.

Begin advertising what you are selling.

If you need a good tip on advertising your home based computer business online, take note of this. Make sure your classified ads are kept short and to the point. You’re aiming to excite your readers and get them curious about what your business is about. This kind of curiosity can develop into more concrete requests for information on what exactly it is that you are providing, whether products or services. That’s to say, your ads are not directly trying to sell products; they are intended to interest people in your offerings.

Get people’s attention.

I’m sure it won’t come as a surprise to most of you that home-based internet businesses aren’t exactly a new thing. It’s certainly a popular thing to become involved in, but it’s been around for awhile. The question is how to get your ads noticed when you’re competing with tons of other people doing the same thing. The way to do this is to create a great headline. You should try to use keywords that will attract people, like: Free, You, How, Secret, Money.

Although research on the use of computers in education plods along slowly compared to the progression of the technology itself, there are already positive correlations between children’s education and computer use. If employed effectively and within a comprehensive educational program, computers can: help a student increase critical thinking skills, allow for customization and learning based on the individual students’ interests and pre-existing knowledge, aid in memorization through interactivity, enhances collaboration among students who are not in the same geographical location, and can simulate complex or real-life tasks. In short, programs that incorporate computer use and technology for learning are many times, more effective than instruction that does not.

The use of computers for learning does not need to stop once school lets out. Creating a home “computer learning center” for your child will create an environment that encourages learning outside of the classroom. To create an educational home computer environment, you will need to do the following:

The physical computer workstation. Your child will need a comfortable computer desk. Because children are smaller than adults with a shorter reach, it’s important to find a desk that’s ergonomically designed to fit his/her body. We found several high-quality, affordable options at Versa Products, Inc. (an American manufacturer or classroom tables with adjustable heights and various desktop sizes that sells direct to the public). They will also need a comfortable chair.

Buy a computer. If this isn’t a computer that will be shared by the whole family (for example to be used for financial management, online shopping, etc.), don’t spend a lot of money. The computer needs to be reasonably fast with a high speed internet connection, but it doesn’t need extra hard drive storage space or other fancy features available for exorbitant prices.

Make the computer internet-safe. Your child will need internet access for research purposes and email. The internet allows children to explore new places and learn things they wouldn’t otherwise. But the internet can also be a dangerous place for a child with the prevalence of easily accessible adult websites, chat rooms, etc. Take time block inappropriate sites, create filters, and actively monitor the history of the sites visited after your child is done with his/her session on a daily basis.

Buy appropriate software. Scott Foresman and Scholastic are two of our favorite educational software companies that offer a wide range of subjects for student education.

Set rules. Although the computer is a tool to enhance education and exploration, too much of even a good thing can reduce its benefits. Children still need to be involved in group activities with other children and adults (in-person) as well as physical activities and non-computer play. The American Heart Association suggests limiting computer activities at home to no more than two hours per day. If those two hours are well spent doing internet research or playing educational games, that amount of time should be sufficient. Encourage your children’s learning by taking an interest in their progress on games and becoming involved in conversation about interesting topics they’ve discovered.
